You can wear leather in footwear, clothing, bags, and furniture. However, it can be difficult to maintain. If leather is in contact with moisture for a prolonged period of time, mold and mildew can attack it.

Secret Leather Cleaner #1- Baby Shampoo
You can prevent mold damage to leather goods by preventing mildew and mold from growing. Be proactive. You should condition and clean your leather items regularly. Your leather items should be kept dry and away from heat when not in use.
Baby shampoo is an excellent choice for routine maintenance cleaning. You can use a soft cloth, such as a t-shirt or soft cloth. It can be dipped in baby shampoo, and used to create a lather on the leather. You can wipe off the lather with a second damp towel. You probably know that baby shampoo is gentle but you may not know that it’s a great cleaner for leather.
You should let the leather dry completely before applying a leather moisturizing cream to protect it from further damage.
#2 Leather Cleaner – Baking Soda
You can use baking soda to clean leather in two ways, especially white leather. Simply sprinkle the baking soda onto the leather. Allow it to sit for at least 20 minutes before you vacuum the baking soda off.
You can also mix baking soda with warm water, add a few drops white vinegar, and then add some liquid dish soap. This works great for spot cleaning. To apply the solution, use a soft, damp cloth.
Leather Cleaner #3-Rubbing Alcohol
Car seats made from leather can be quite difficult. Mold and mildew will hide in the numerous folds and around seams. This is where you need to use rubbing alcohol.
Combine a small amount of water and rubbing alcohol. It is best to use a little bit. Apply your solution to a soft cloth and rub it on any mildew or mold. Start by rubbing small areas until mildew or mold is gone.
Dry the seat using a towel. The best way to speed dry the seat is to leave it open and blow a fan across it. This will help to eliminate any alcohol smells. You can do the same thing with leather sofas and chairs.
Leather Cleaner #4 – Lemon Juice
Lemon juice, which is acidic, makes a great mildew and mold removal agent. To remove visible mold, use a soft and dry cloth. Mix 3 parts water and 1 part lemon juice in a bowl. Use a sponge, or preferably a bit of lamb’s hair. Apply the lemon juice solution to your applicator, and wipe the surface. It is not necessary to soak the item.
Allow the lemon juice solution for about 30 minutes to dry, then wipe the item again with a soft towel. You can then apply leather conditioner to your leather items using a sponge, or a piece from lamb’s Wool.
Safety First
You should first get rid of the item and any other items that may have mold. Mold and moldspores can spread easily and infect other parts of your house. It is important to try to eliminate the mold and not move it around. Mold can be removed outdoors. Additionally, mold hates sunlight, so it is best to work on it outdoors.
Gloves are also recommended to protect your hands. Your eyes, nose and mouth are all common places for mold to get into your body.
